Reference report Gretenkord: Update of the IT landscape
Initial situation
As a long-standing maintenance customer of SIGMA Chemnitz GmbH, the IT infrastructure-specific conditions at Gretenkord GmbH & Co. KG are well known. Due to the approaching end of support for various IT hardware and software (Microsoft Exchange Server, Windows 7, Windows Server 2008 R2 and Terminal Server), there was an urgent need for action.
The challenge
At the beginning, the saxon meat and sausage producer was faced with the challenge of defining a target system. The transition from the current IT infrastructure to the new IT system was to have as little impact as possible on day-to-day business. Another objective was to avoid any data loss during the data transfer.
Implementation of the IT project
The task of SIGMA Chemnitz GmbH was the conversion of the IT system to Windows Server 2019, the IT migration to Exchange 2019, the roll-out of the hardware and the complete data transfer to the new IT systems.
With regard to the IT hardware, Gretenkord GmbH & Co. KG ultimately opted for the deployment of two new Fujitsu PRIMERGY Servers RX2530 M5, an All-Flash Storage DX100 S5, a new Fujitsu Backup Server RX2520 M5, a new UPS and nine new Fujitsu Thin Clients FUTRO S720.
The butchery Gretenkord GmbH & Co. KG is a private butchery founded in 1903, which has built up a large network of butchery stores in Saxony and Thuringia since 1991. The branches are supplied daily with fresh meat and sausage products cut and produced in the head office.
