Changing SAP Business One Partners as a Starting Point for New Momentum

Alpha Dichtungstechnik, based in Delitzsch, relies on SAP Business One to manage its business processes. To further develop the ERP system in a more targeted manner in the future, the company decided to switch its SAP Business One partner. The transition to SIGMA took place in close coordination with all parties involved. The goal was to seamlessly continue the existing system landscape while simultaneously unlocking new opportunities to optimize processes.

After analyzing the existing SAP Business One environment and the core processes in day-to-day operations, it quickly became clear that there was significant potential for streamlining and greater transparency, particularly in shipping and logistics. As a result, SIGMA took over support, maintenance, and further development of the system.

SIGMA Digital Packing Table Ensures More Efficient Shipping Processes

A key project was the implementation of the SIGMA Digital Packing Table 2.0. This significantly simplified and clearly structured the shipping process. The shipping solution automatically synchronizes all relevant order and shipping data with SAP Business One.

At the packing station, employees access the necessary information via a user-friendly interface and prepare shipments step by step. The data from the packing slip—such as the shipping address or package weight—is automatically transmitted to UPS via the integrated shipping carrier interface.

In return, the system receives the tracking number and the corresponding shipping label. This allows shipments to be tracked with certainty, and customers can be easily informed about the status of their delivery. 

The digital packing table has quickly become an integral part of daily operations and is now a standard component of shipping processes.

Transparent management of load carriers

In addition, the SIGMA load carrier exchange account was introduced. This solution allows for the accurate documentation and tracking of pallet movements. 

Another step was the transition of the entire print job control system. The previous solution from the SAP standard was replaced by CoreSuite. This allows layouts and print processes to be designed more flexibly and adapted more easily to new requirements.

Additional projects are already in the planning stages 

We are continuing to develop the system landscape in collaboration with SIGMA. We are currently working with Alpha Dichtungstechnik to implement SIGMA Mobile Warehouse Management. The goal is to map warehouse processes directly on mobile devices and record transactions immediately in the system.

In addition, optimizing production processes is on the agenda. Looking ahead, we are exploring how to integrate production data collection so that feedback from the shop floor can be transferred directly into SAP Business One.

The ERP system is being further developed step by step

The switch to SIGMA as our partner has laid the groundwork for several optimization projects. Through targeted enhancements and close collaboration, the existing SAP Business One system is continuously being refined and adapted to the company’s needs.
