New server & storage system ensures increased data security

Initial situation at ZABAG

The existing hardware was at its load and resource limits. Despite the effects of the pandemic on the general economic situation, ZABAG Security Engineering GmbH was able to grow in terms of increased requirements, the amount of data to be processed, the number of projects and the number of employees.

The company used the time to develop various IT concepts together with SIGMA Chemnitz in order to be able to meet future requirements. In close cooperation between the IT systems engineering, sales and management departments of SIGMA Chemnitz and the system administrator as well as the management of ZABAG Security Engineering GmbH, an overall concept was developed to further develop their IT infrastructure into a future-proof and secure system.

The order from ZABAG

The individual sub-projects will be implemented according to previously defined priorities and taking into account possible dependencies. After comprehensive consulting by SIGMA Chemnitz, ZABAG ordered a new, central server & storage system in the first step, replacing the previous solution with Fujitsu hardware of the latest generation.

In order to ensure high availability in the future and to be able to keep the administration and maintenance effort low, the necessary prerequisites for the subsequent steps will be created. Thus, a Fujitsu ETERNUS All Flash Storage and two PRIMERGY Hypervisor systems will be used. These offer high quality and the highest possible capacity/performance ratio. They are also consumption-optimized.

The next steps include the migration to a new operating system, a new firewall, the introduction of an email archive and the implementation of the backup concept.
