NXP i.MX7 Processor

The i.MX7 series from NXP includes highly integrated and application processors that are suitable for secure and portable applications in the Internet of Things. With the i.MX7 series, NXP has realized a performance on demand architecture. This allows the processors to quickly adapt to the respective software requirements and only consume the necessary energy. Depending on requirements, the i.MX7 series can take this into account by distributing bandwidth-hungry data operations to one or both Cortex-A7 cores. If such high processor requirements are not needed, work is transferred to the smaller Cortex-M4, which is optimally designed for low power consumption. The Cortex-A7 core can then be disabled via power gating.
