Information about NXP i.MX6 / Freescale i.MX6

The i.MX6 Series of Freescale ™ - now NXP - includes latest generation single, double and quad-core processors based on the ARM® Cortex™-A9 architecture.

The fields of application are mainly for consumer, industrial and automotive applications.

The combination of energy-saving ARM Cortex-A9 architecture and high multimedia performance, such as the comprehensive 3D and 2D graphics properties, is particularly noticeable in high-resolution video applications, especially in graphics applications.

Characteristics of the NXP i.MX6 processor

The NXP i.MX6 is available in ten different versions:

  • i.MX6ULL with Cortex-A7 and 900 MHz
    has among other things Camera- and Display interface, USB and Ethernet with 2 x 10/100 Mbit/s
  • i.MX 6UltraLite (i.MX6UL) with Cortex-A7 and 696 MHz
    has among other things Camera- and Display interface, USB and Ethernet with 2 x 10/100 Mbit/s, plus 2 x CAN
  • i.MX 6SoloLite (i.MX6SL) with Cortex-A9 and 1 GHz
    has among other things Camera- and Display interface, 2D/3D Graphic acceleration, Ethernet with 10/100 Mbit/s and USB
  • i.MX 6SoloX (i.MX6SX) with Cortex-A9 and 1 GHz plus Cortex-M4
    with 227 MHz
    has among other things Camera- and Display interface, 2D/3D Graphic acceleration, Ethernet with 2 x 1 Gbit/s, USB, 2 x CAN etc.
  • i.MX 6Solo (i.MX6S) with Cortex-A9 and 1 GHz
    has among other things Camera- and Display interface, 2D/3D Graphic acceleration plus EPDC, Ethernet with 1 Gbit/s, USB, 2 x CAN etc.
  • i.MX 6DualLite (i.MX6DL) with two Cortex-A9 with 1 GHz
    has among other things Camera- and Display interface, 2D/3D Graphic acceleration plus EPDC, Ethernet with 1 Gbit/s, USB, 2 x CAN etc.
  • i.MX 6Dual (i.MX6D) with two Cortex-A9 with 1,2 GHz
    has among other things Camera- and Display interface, 2D/3D Graphic acceleration, Ethernet with 1 Gbit/s, USB, 2 x CAN etc.
  • i.MX 6DualPlus (i.MX6DP) with two Cortex-A9 with 1,2 GHz
    has among other things Camera- and Display interface, 2D/3D Graphic acceleration, Ethernet with 1 Gbit/s, USB, 2 x CAN etc.
  • i.MX 6Quad (i.MX6Q) with four Cortex-A9 and 1,2 GHz

  • i.MX 6QuadPlus (i.MX6QP) with four Cortex-A9 and 1,2 GHz
